The vehicle was designed under the RISE concept of controlled deformation and the pedals and steering column are collapsible. The seatbelts are three points for the seven occupants and the front ones have pre-tensioner and force limiter. The use of special steels of high resistance and low thickness contribute to decrease the weight of the vehicle and collaborate to lower the center of gravity and provide more stability. To ensure even more safety, the New Outlander 2016 is equipped with nine airbags : front, curtain, side and knee for the driver. Proof of all this technology used for safety is the highest classification in three of the most renowned institutes: Euro NCAP, ANCAP, JNCAP and IIHS Top Safety Pick + , which awarded five stars to the New Outlander. This system has new sensors and is more prepared to meet the most diverse situations. The ” Eco ” position allows greater fuel economy, since it maintains the system preferably in 4×2. But if necessary, 4×4 traction is automatically triggered, ensuring more safety. The ” Auto ” position is an active 4×4, where the new sensors ensure a better distribution of the traction between the axles and is aimed at all types of terrain, bringing more safety in a sporting piloting. The ” Lock ” position is the 4×4 full-time, ideal for off-road situations and low grip floors. The front suspension is independent Mc Pherson, with coil springs and stabilizer bars. The rear suspension is multilink, which ensures greater control of the vehicle, as well as smooth driving on rough terrain. The rear suspension combines sophistication with performance and allows for a passive wheel tread during a turn, increasing stability and steerability. A high performance vehicle must have a braking system capable of providing stability and safety. The New Outlander is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes, ventilated at the front, and a high-tech electronic management with ABS, EBD and BAS . The wheels are 18-inch alloy wheels and 225 / 55R18 tires that ensure the best grip on the racetracks without compromising off-road vocation on rough terrain.
